LESHANKI - A
COMMUNITY SERVICE.
Welcome to our third article in the Cosmic
Cauldron.
We have been very busy here at Leshanki putting together a steering
committee to plough through the mounds of paper work needed for policy
and procedure.
To all who have shown interest in joining our humble group, we are
grateful to you for your support and energy and assure you it will not
be a great deal longer before we can accommodate you.
Leshanki is receiving emails on a regular basis from curious Pagans
within the community asking how our organisation is different from
Organisations already active and doing great work.
As our name suggests we are the children of Leshy so Leshanki is
interested in the environment. Ecological sustainability, rather than
preservation, is a key concept here at Leshanki though we note that
there are indeed environments under great strain and we wish to educate
people about balance in nature and preservation of such precious
ecology. We encourage all Pagans to use to their own benefit and the
benefit of nature , the direct land to which they have access. On our
new website www.leshanki.ning.com
we have several groups devoted to social and ecological sustainability.
Leshanki is dedicated to our future so many of our policies are child
oriented and family friendly. Leshanki believe the most powerful unit in
a society is family and we strive to protect, educate and offer support
to members within the Pagan Community. Leshanki firmly believe that
families know what is best for themselves and intend to make this known
to Government and departmental policy makers. Leshanki have a group on
our new website specifically devoted to the Clan and we encourage
everyone to join as we affirm that family is the key to
solving many challenges our community faces Pagan or otherwise.
It is at this time Leshanki wish to add that we support shared parenting
policies.
Some other questions from interested community members are as follows,
'I have seen some of your founding members on other forums and have
found them to be rude so what has changed?' Sola
Nothing at all. Leshanki does not apologise for our members behaviour on
other forums and within other groups. We do hope they remember that they
represent Leshanki to the best of their abilities but we do not dictate
nor do we have a policy on behaviour pertaining to opinion. Our
moderators do not allow abuse of any member but we do express the
necessity to all members, of researching your opinion and posts because
we are intolerant of stupidity however that may not make us immune to
it.
'A number of your founding members are ex-PA (Pagan Alliance Inc.) ...
is that why you have a new group?' Anon
It is true Leshanki has four founding members that were members of PA
(Pagan Alliance Inc.). Due to conflicts of a personal nature, and not
necessarily the same conflict, some members have resigned their
positions. Some of those members, but not all, were invited to become
founding members of Leshanki as they had shared interest in the
environment and Paganism. Leshanki was not founded because of PA nor in
spite of it.
Many years ago PA (Pagan Alliance Inc.) was founded in answer to
misinformation carried out in the Media about ritual murder and other
issues relating to children.
We acknowledge and honour the great work PA (Pagan Alliance Inc.)
carried out at this time and believe PA (Pagan Alliance Inc.) was a
great support to the Pagan Community and did great works in debunking
myth and educating the public on Paganism.
Leshanki does not wish to involve itself in any
business carried out by PA nor do we wish to involve ourselves or
comment on anything that is currently happening in the PA community.
Leshanki simply wish to quietly remember how it PA once was.
In next months edition of TCC we shall interview the diverse membership
of Leshanki, introducing you to the colourful characters of this group,
why they are excited about Leshanki and show you how different each
individual member really is.
